Well it has been too long since i have updated the blog!
We are all adjusting to being a family of 7. We have now moved up to a 15 passenger van to hold our 5 kiddos, 4 of which are in car seats, and the wonderful quad stroller our church got for us! We were blessed with a dear friend who came and helped us reorganize our house to make it more practical for our growing family. We made our master bedroom down stair our play room/ therapy room. And since Emma's huge bedroom upstairs held all the toys and therapy stuff, but hard for me to get all the kids up there, we moved her in with the boys and moved our master to her room. It is working great. It makes it easier for me to stay downstairs with the kids and then we only have to go upstairs for naptime and bedtime.
Gideon has just blossomed since being home. As I stated on our last blog post that he is severely autistic. We are still waiting for our appointments for all the kids to be seen at the Developmental Peds clinic here in Columbia. He doesn't pull his hair out anymore when he is upset, but still hits himself in the face or ear. He is easily irritated and hates being touched by Asher! But he has less breakdowns and we will let us hold him and hug him when he is upset! He also is playing with toys more and more. My mom brought a toy lawn mower and he walked up and down the living room pushing it. Is smile still makes an angry heart change to a happy heart. He laughs and giggles, and he loves to be tickled and held, not autistic like at all! And he can now walk up the steps by himself!!! Of course we are right behind him because his balance is really weak and he doesn't pay attention to where he is, but it is huge progress!!! He also has filled in!! He no longer looks malnourished but solid! He still is not able to chew at all but we are working on it. Overall, I would say that Gideon has made huge progress since we have been home, and we can't imagine our family without that joyful smile.
Zechariah is a smart little bugger. He is ornery as can be and still hates to be told no. He is learning boundaries slowly but surly. He loves o play with his brothers and has now shown us that he loves Baby Signing Time. He will bring me the DVD case and squeals with delight if I put it on. He loves to eat and still acts as if he doesn't know if he will get another meal. Recently we went to a Mexican restaurant and as we were leaving we stopped to talk to a friend, Zechariah proceeded to grab a tortilla from her plate and shove it in his mouth! And when I took it from him, he grabbed it again and shoved it in his mouth! We still have some work to do in that area. He loves to look at books and play kitchen. He loves to help but sometimes he gets really angry when his idea is not helpful to mommy! But he is making huge progress as well. I have been teaching him to say Yes Ma'am and help. His favorite thing to do is to hush Emma with his cute little finger and say" Emma, quie....without the t at the end! He is a character to be sure and keeps us all on his toes. He loves to hugged and kissed and for the first time this week he told me he loved me first! He is amazing.
Hunter is enjoying being a big brother. He loves that Zechariah can actually play with him. He will sit and read to them and cuddle with them! I couldn't do it without him! He just turned 9 this month and is enjoying home schooling. He loves reading history and reading in general. He read the entire Little House on the Prairie in 3 days! He has been helping alot outside with the animals and helping his Daddy with the various building projects here on the farm. Hunter even has his own ax and he splits firewood for us. At first he loved it and asked to do it, but now that we let him do it it seems to have lost it's fun. His long term plans are to raise baby chicks and sell the eggs as well as have a market veggi and flower garden.
Asher has become a little monkey since we got home with Gideon and Zechariah. He has decided he no longer wants to sleep on his bed after 2 years but with Momma and Daddy. He also has become alittle bit of a buly! He loves to aggravate Gideon and Zechariah who have not figured out that they can just get up and walk away. But we are working on that too!! Asher is finally walking...when he wants to! Got to love that stubborn Down Syndrome stubbornness. Asher also loves to read books and play with his brothers, and he loves to talk and tell stories, unfortunately we have no idea what he is saying, but he sure seems to know.
Miss Emma is still a little princess. She is growing so long and is finally starting to make some progress in the muscle tone area. She is now sitting up alot more and she plays with toys too!! She loves to be outside with the breeze blowing in her face. She now says Mama, Dada, digga digga, Bubba, Meme and Doo Doo. She just had a birthday in January and she is now 3! Time sure has flown!
As for our adoption we have finally submitted our I-800 to USCIS and are awaiting approval which we are hoping for soon! USCIS forwards it on to L and they will notify us when our court hearing will be. It looks like Tyler will be doing NCO Academy for the next couple months so I will be traveling for the second trip by myself. Our good friend Dee just had her court hearing today and She left Saturday and will be back Tuesday. So basically my trip with be about 4 days total. Tha'ts okay, I don't mind going to one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen!! After the court hearing we have a 20 day wait and she should return about 30 days after the second trip with the boys to finalize their adoption, get their new birth certificates, and new passports with their American names!!
We still need about $4,630 to finish our adoption! We are still doing our puzzle piece fundraiser! Please comment or email us if you would like to donate! In the end of our adoption we will finish putting together the puzzle and will frame the back side of the puzzle with all the names of the people who made our adoption possible!
